چکیده

We consider theoretical models of emission of TeV photons by Cyg X-1 during a flare discovered by the MAGIC detector. We study acceleration of electrons to energies sufficient for TeV emission, and find the emission site is allowed to be close to the black hole. We then consider pair absorption in the photon field of the central X-ray source and a surrounding accretion disc, and find its optical depth is < ∼ 1, allowing emission close to the black hole. On the other hand, the optical depth in the stellar field is ∼10 at ∼1 TeV. However, the optical depth drops with increasing energy, allowing a model with the initial energy of > ∼ 3 TeV, in which photons travel far away from the star, initiating a spatially extended pair cascade. This qualitatively explains the observed TeV spectrum, though still not its exact shape.

The diffuse GeV-TeV γ-ray emission of the Cygnus region

Recently the Milagro experiment observed diffuse multi-TeV gamma ray emission in the Cygnus region, which is significantly stronger than what predicted by the Galactic cosmic ray model. However, the sub-GeV observation by EGRET shows no excess to the prediction based on the same model. This TeV excess implies possible high energy cosmic rays populated in the region with harder spectrum than tha...

The magnetic field and the location of the TeV emitter in Cygnus X - 1 and LS 5039

Context. Cygnus X-1 and LS 5039 are two X-ray binaries observed at TeV energies. Both sources are compact systems, contain jet-like (radio) structures, and harbor very luminous O stars. A TeV signal has been found around the superior conjunction of the compact object in both objects, when the highest gamma-ray opacities are expected. Aims. We investigate the implications of finding TeV emission...

The April 1997 giant flare of Mkn 501 is modelled by a stationary Synchrotron-Proton-Blazar model. Our derived model parameters are consistent with X-ray-to-TeV-data in the flare state and diffusive shock acceleration of e − and p in a Kolmogorov/Kraichnan turbulence sprectrum. While the emerging pair-synchrotron cascade spectra initiated by photons from π 0-decay and electrons from π ± → µ ± →...
